Maybe it is time to look again at the issue of dishonesty and the penalties. Few would disagree that dishonestly appropiating clients' money should lead to a strike. Is it right however to treat someone who has created a backdated letter in the same way as someone who steals money from clients? Might the penalty not distinguish the behaviour for example a suspension and I do understand that in some of these cases the Court might have been misled, which would make the offence more serious. I am also glad she has been given a second chance but maybe a short period of suspension would have been appropriate in this case and a longer period in the other recent case, rather than being struck off.
