Just a thought; hey SDT/SRA, we can get another reasonable size costs order here to justify our existence, and put up so many hoops, including retraining and rehabilitation, that this individual to all intents and purposes has no chance whatsoever of returning to any active role in the profession - easy peasey.

This is not an entirely flippant comment. I will never forget the treatment meted out to the likes of the late Sally Clark, and what appears to continue to be a fundamental and complete absence of consistency on the part of the SRA and SDT.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that Mr Farrimond, albeit presumably on the grounds of diminished responsibility, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment. Now factor into the equation the fact that if a solicitor accepts a Caution for any minor criminal offence, arguably simply on the basis of avoiding the time and expense of criminal proceedings, then it would appear being struck off is inevitable. Clearly I'm missing something somewhere !
