Comment

Thanks all for comments. This issue always generates intelligent, heartfelt debate. A quick observation on the last Supreme Court judgment. In Nicklinson, Neuberger held the view that Parliament's ability to ignore proper clarity on this issue was time limited. At issue for him (and colleagues) was the legal conflict between human rights and the 1961 Act. Both the HR aspects and the '61 Act are law - which is unsatisfactory. The conflict, quite properly, keeps returning to our courts as a result. It is the conflict that is to blame. It is the conflict Parliament refuses to resolve, not the single issue of assisted suicide.
