How this judgment helps to promote the welfare of unsuitably-placed looked-after children at present is not certain.
It is entirely in the public interest that looked-after children are removed from harm into safe placements which meet their needs adequately.
The scope of state interventionism in family life is bordering on impunity. The hidden cost of keeping the scales tipped in favour of the corporate parent is too high.
Instead of focussing on preventing Baby P type tragedies of actual harm, forcible child removal from loving parents on the say-so of over-zealous social workers reporting opinion evidence of a risk of future emotional harm still persists - where is the accountability?
