It is astonishing that so many people conflate nationality with race. It is not racist to consider deporting criminals who are foreign nationals and safeguards exist to ensure they are not deported to regimes where their human rights would be abused.
Juries are a little bit more sophisticated than people think, they often notice that the defendant has a foreign name for instance. Of course many British people have 'foreign names' too so what is the problem with clarifying that situation.
Most juries are composed of level headed 'ordinary' people not xenophobes and racists. Even post Brexit British people are far more accomodating to foreigners than hostile.
That notwithstanding we do have to consider whether this is yet another pandering to the rather daft insularity that is now all the rage in Britain and of little practical use at all.
