The problem is it does not just end with the rules. The law of contract or tort can be complicated as can the rules of evidence. How are we supposed to simplify those matters - are we for example going to allow hearsay evidence automatically because the Civil Evidence Act is too complicated for litigants in person to understand. How in fact that is can you dispense with Lawyers without dispensing with the proper rule of law. The answer is not to just have judges deciding things like they did in the Tudor times (when they worried a bit like our current government that the lawyers got in the way), but to make lawyers affordable and accessible like they used to be before the appalling behaviour of our self same government - oh and by the way there is the "small issue of current court fees which is preventing access to justice..
