Yes, this time they did. Next time the person it was emailed to might be on holiday, in hospital or have left the firm. The document served might then not come to anyone's attention until it's too late to do anything about it.

It's a simple and straightforward rule which is there for a good reason. If anyone, solicitor or LiP can't understand it, I'd suggest they'd be better steering clear of litigation.

I've had varying experiences of dealing with LiPs. Some were fine. Most tended to be a bit needy. Some were deluded and incapable of understanding the basic issues involved in even the most straightforward legal or procedural point, no matter how patiently explained by the court, or accepting they lost. There ought to be a simplified procedure for obtaining Civil Restraint orders against that latter category.
