In the previous version of this Magistrates Courts listed cases in the FOH Court at Newcastle Crown Court without seeking any input from the defence advocate.
On the one hand we were told it was voluntary yet it was handled as if it was compulsory.
It would be courteous if proper guidance could be issued so reference could be made to it in Court.

What HMCTS and MoJ don't seem to understand is that there is no need for this pilot. What there is a need for is HMCTS and MoJ to resource the entire system adequately so that Courts operate effectively and efficiently.

On paper DMU seems like a really good idea. In reality it creates delay.

On paper having a centralised listing system seems like a good idea. In realty it creates chaos.

On [virtual] paper having digital files seems like a good idea-but it doesn't improve the quality of disclosure or make the system operate any more efficiently-especially when the server at CPS decides to take the day off.

Too often one is hanging about at Court waiting for the Court to be able to hear the case.
