You can tell people until you are blue in the face that the system is starting to fail and is breaking down but they won't take any notice until it actually breaks. It is exactly the same in teaching and the health service - older dedicated practitioners are retiring and their replacements are not being recruited and trained (or retained on salaries that don't enable them to maintain a decent work/life balance) because of budgetary pressures.
