I'm with the Judge on this one.

What on earth possessed the Claimants' Solicitors to sign Statements of Truth is beyond me, but the mere fact of signing them imposes very serious, and in my view strict, liability for the consequences, when the statements verified or matters as pleaded turn out to be anything but the truth.

if you conclude, having considered very carefully a potential client's case, that it is simply beyond the bounds of credibility, or is fundamentally fraudulent, then you withdraw; there are no two ways about it, even without considering our fundamental obligations as officers of the court.

Tipping off the boys in blue is another matter of course, and strays into the treacherous area of client confidentiality, but fortunately is outside the scope of this particular report.
