Señor Maloney

'We' (us) do not know what 'we' want in this or any other European related matter.

52% of the population voted to leave the EU on that fateful day but it is a racing certainty that 52% did not vote to be poorer.

The likes of Jacob (Mr Micawber) Rees Mogg and Fazakerly Farage can of course afford to tighten their belts over the next decade or so it takes us to rebuild trade with the rest of the world. Their bank balances allow for considerable slack around the waist line, compared with the average Joe and Josephine with 2.4 kids a mortgage and credit card debts. They are not 'we'.

If the EU are taking advantage of our weak negotiators now its going to be interesting when they start taking advantage of the lack of trade negotiators that 44 years of atrophy have left us with. If they really do wish to do us harm we are in for a very tough time indeed.

I will grant you our negotiators are weak but make no mistake the hard Brexiteers who think they can stamp their foot and threaten to take their ball home will be in for a big shock if they are ever allowed to take the helm (which they won't be of course) The 27 on the 'other side' can shout a lot louder than they can when push comes to shove.

The petulant child who takes his ball home sulks on his own, those left on the playing field simply start a different game.
