Arithmetically you are correct but 52% of those who voted, voted to leave. They did not however vote for the ridiculous type of leaving that has become known as 'Hard Brexit'. They did not vote to become poorer. Given the choice of the hard Brexit there would not be anywhere near a majority to leave except in Fantasy Farage Land.

While there is still a lot of noise coming from the belligerent Brexiteers who want to give those 'foreign Johnnys a damn good British thrashing' they are very much a minority*. There is no point listening to Gove, Johnson and Rees-Mogg, they are just talking about their own personal ambitions. As for Fazakerly Farage he's going to live abroad if he doesn't get his way. Bye Bye Fazakerly!

Realpolitik will decide this one not ideology. There will be plenty more hot air before we depart in March 2019 but we will be going the soft route. Some form of single market accommodation, some form of customs alignment (union) and reapplication and readmission within ten years.

As for British lawyers wanting to practice in the EU, its simple. Requalify in the country you want to practice in just like we have to to practice in the US.

* If they believe they are still in the majority they can always call for another referendum of course
