I think this Association represent the factory Firms. So if they want to explain to their prospective clients what their Firms are offering in terms of poor service and likely delays due to inexperienced, unqualified, unknowledgeable staff struggling through a massive caseload for the sake of their bonuses, then by all means it is probably a good idea. At least it gives those clients the chance to avoid them and instruct a proper Solicitor, one who isn't getting the work merely because they pay a referral fee (conflict of interest anyone?)
If the upcoming conveyancing review can do one thing it can hopefully reduce the footprint of these Firms in the conveyancing process to make everyone's jobs easier. That will certainly speed up timescales.
And before anyone says anything I am a Locum, I have no vested interest. But after thirty five years in the job, seeing so many declining standards to the point where the Conveyancing Association's members have made this job almost impossible to enjoy anymore, and far harder to practice than it should be, what I want to see more than anything is an environment where everyone puts the client first and remembers why we are doing this job, to deliver a house move for said client. Somewhere along the line, in the race to pile files as high as possible, too many Firms have forgotten that.
