`I write as a retired solicitor, who felt as the years went on that life was no longer fun. When I left school to work in a solicitor's office, the sole practitioner boss was a 'character', who certainly did a bit of shouting, but his heart was in the right place. We had a laugh now and again. That was 50 years ago, and for many years there hasn't been much laughter - at least in places where I have worked. Pressure is relentless, and it is not surprising that even the most decent of people can crack. All very sad.
