Given that an inquest is only required if there is doubt about a cause of death, why should members of one religion take precedence over those of another or those without a faith. The upset to the families remain the same. The strict Jewish law requires a funeral within 24 hours of a death. It will inevitably be breached if there is an inquest. It does not matter if the delay is a week or longer, but surely important for a proper investigation to be carried out and for all deaths to be treated fairly. The cab rank rule must be the fairest.
