I can see the point of this.

However, will the party walls model which protects neighbours' properties translate into a process which changes them? And anyway the dispute is always a matter of principle.

How will surveyors, who are not lawyers, deal with easement issues etc?

When I was involved with them, I used to explain to the litigants that their dispute, which they would have to disclose to any purchaser of their property, would likely make it unsaleable even if they were entirely in the right. It sometimes did the trick.
