Adria, thank you for sharing your insights into this issue. In addition to stepping on the same stone twice (which I myself have been known to do, much to the chagrin of my toes) I think there is a human tendency to fear the unknown and seek comfort in the familiar. Sometimes the things we fear are obvious and we own this fear, however irrational it may be. Other times, the fear is well hidden, even from our own minds. This is precisely what implicit or unconscious bias is all about. The more we are able to recognise and speak openly of the hidden beliefs that drive our decisions, the better positioned we will be to make the legal workplace truly inclusive and equitable. The Law Society's LGBT+ Lawyers Division is two years old this month. I am sure Spain's time is coming soon.
