Seems to me there is no reason to be at such events at all in the first place, as with anything else bearing the dubious "gentlemen only" tag. That tag alone is enough to say to anyone with half a sense of decency to stay well away. The Chinese adage, lay with dogs, rise with fleas applies in my view. If one gives to charity, one gives to charity. No reason to trumpet it or use it as an excuse for dreadful (and clearly sexist) behaviour. I will not be told people don't know what's going on: that is utter nonsense and without any credibility at all. Those who do must understand the consequences of their actions lay at their doors. No defence there and the SRA are right to be concerned about such undermining the majority of us who are decent people in a decent profession
