s an observer of the personalities at the 'old' forensic science laboratories I was pleased how detached they were from the police. I as a policeman marveled how they did not let emotion, generated by the most hateful of crimes, colour or affect their judgement of their scientific examination of evidence,
Compare the pressures on a commercial establishment , eager to make more money or continue to exist. Regularly giving truthful judgments that do not add to a police case will cause work to be directed elsewhere. Add the effect of Common Purpose and you have the recipe for miscarriages of justice. Be aware and be afraid.
