Solicitor who makes mistake and doesn't admit it straight away is prohibited from working in the law ever again despite an unblemished 30 year career and made to pay £3,000 costs to boot.

Meanwhile GP doctor who refuses to see asthmatic child -who later died - for being four (or eight) minutes late is allowed to stay at home on full pay for six months and then told "you may wish to think about not doing this again into the future. Pretty please, thanks a lot for listening". And that's it. And the inquest into said child's death reports that the doctor told her employers that she was busy with other patients and yet the employers looked at the case management system and noted there were no appointments or indeed entries at all during the relevant time.
