I would have thought not. And he shouldn't have done it - a solicitor has to be able to be trusted to the ends of the earth.

He must have taken the course he did for a reason. BUT when one reads on here of cases where people have ended up £30,000 worse off for sending a text message to somebody else that the SRA didn't like, or £50,000 down in the SDT for having the audacity of being a defendant, then perhaps his actions can be seen in a slightly different light.

I think my view though is that Strike Off should be reserved for dipping your fingers in the till and lying to the courts and regulators and cases of a like nature whereas at the moment it seems to be the default sanction (with a £75,000 costs order) with a lesser punishment available only if exceptional circumstances and a diagnosis of depression is given.
