I don't think that it is for the court to tell a party that as he/she can afford legal representation, it will not hear him/her if he/she choses to act in person - any more than HMRC should say that it will not allow a rich taxpayer to prepare and submit his/her tax return him/herself but has to use a chartered accountant to do so. And what's more, I can think of some sophisticated LiPs who are probably more competent than some professional advocates I've seen!
