Is change always for the best? Call me a Luddite but if I were a tenant faced with possession proceedings living in Kensington I think I might have preferred an attendance in the old (albeit purpose built), West London County Court which was originally located in North End Road and then moved to Talgarth Road. Now tenants have to go to The Thomas More Building at the rear of The High Court. A difficult place to find if you are unfamiliar with the geography of the High Court. Also a significant and expensive bus or tube ride away. We must not lose sight of the fact that Courts used to be local. They were close by where users lived. Now users are being asked to travel significant distances. I have had clients say they cannot afford to attend. Yes I am sure that change will be forced upon us by the MOJ. I have my doubts as to whether it will be for the good of all.
