It is discrimination against people of other or no faith. I don't think that anyone other than the family involved can comment that the delay is just 'an inconveniece'.

And what if someone from a mentioned faith has been murdered? How is it right that the family of a non-religious person who has clearly died of natural causes (a 5 minute job, as Anon 10.08 suggests) has to wait longer to have closure and lay their loved one to rest, due to religious reasons?

Despite all the legal issues surrounding this, in real, practical terms, I think that Ms Hassell herself as put it best:

"‘I believe the cab-rank rule is the fairest way... No family is less important to me than any other.’"
