There is no money, and the UK is likely to suffer economically post-Brexit, so things are only going to get worse. For all the reasons we know (the public hate criminals, etc.) a volte face in policy is highly unlikely (or, if it happened as part of a Corbyn government, would be followed by a 1970’s-style crash).

I don’t know anyone in their right mind considering criminal law: every student we meet is set on commercial careers. What is the ultimate destination if, as is likely, we continue down this path? What is the cheapest Article 6-compliant representation that could be provided (regardless of quality) so that the government manages to technically comply with its obligations, regardless of efficacy or quality? I’m trying to understand what - realistically - the future looks like.
