It has always seemed quite absurd to me, that the behaviour of lawyers is to be defined by the principles of the free market and consumerism.

Lawyers elsewhere, especially in the various Bars in the USA, would never tolerate this nonsense.

Chartered Accountants I have known over the decades do not possess the same ethos as solicitors, and there have several occassions over the years, when they seemed oblivious to conflicts of interest in their conduct, which were not properly addressed .

It was a mistake to allow accountants to regulate probate work, especially with its inter relation with no many different legal areas.

"Law's empire is defined by attitude" as somebody said and for ethical reasons alone I hope the government is successful in opposing this naked power grab by ethics free accountants.
