I see that, as usual, the Gazette has taken down my earlier comment basically accusing The Law society of being wholly inept in their futile attempts to persuade members of the general public that conveyancing is any more than just a paper shuffling exercise designed to enrich even further our already fat cat lawyers!

I pointed out that domestic conveyancing fees are now pathetic and have really not increased for the last 30 years or more to my knowledge. I pointed out that the public should not expect to pay for a Mini and receive a Rolls Royce - but they do. Conveyancers are very often simply forced to offer wholly unprofitable low fees if they are to get any conveyancing work at all. They are at the mercy of just about everyone. It's dog eat dog out there, the Law Society having failed miserably to put the case for conveyancers in any way, shape or form which is understandable and persuasive to the general public. Conveyancing is still largely seen as an obstacle and expensive, but necessary evil, getting in the way of their house purchase or sale!! The irony is overwhelming.

However, any criticism of the Law Society seems to be a matter heresy and unacceptable to the Gazette so I imagine this comment will also be taken down as well.
