Mr McNally, I'm anon from 13.10.

Does your insurance policy pay out the full amount of the purchase price without quibble, including the mortgage and all the costs/disbursements of moving and would it therefore put me in exactly the same position I was in before exchange of contracts? If not, I'd rather give it a miss and let the conveyancing be done right in the first place thanks, even if it meant waiting a few weeks.

Your insurance policy might be all you crack it up to be in yours sales blurb but I'd prefer not be in the position of trying to claim on it while someone else was blocking my drive/building on my garden etc. Inevitably there would be disagreement about the objective value of what was lost. An insurer would see it as a purely financial exercise but I could have the stress of being involved in a neighbour dispute, possibly for years.
