This has been a very long game played by HMG. There was a time when many lawyers did some advocacy even if it was just some licensing work in the local mags. Then you had contracting in various guises coming along and then fewer and fewer contracts and then the squeeze. Some firms have benefitted as they thought by getting as many contracts as possible but have become vulnerable under the terms of the game. The number of courts has reduced greatly. At Keswick for example it was fortnightly in winter and weekly in summer. Stolen beer mugs in winter and strange horticulture in winter. Then it was a system for local people in local courts. Now it's an inconvenience and you should all plead . End of story.
