Looking at the first 4 comments on the subject is interesting. For every effort the police make to mitigate the effects of crime on victims or to prevent the death of offenders, there is a cosy little special interest group ready to snipe at their efforts.
Consider the opposition to all of the non-lethal options that the police have tried, to stop offenders or make an arrest. We had the saga of the long batons, CS, Pepper Spray,Taser, leg restraints, spit guards, etc. At every turn there has been a galaxy of lawyers lined up to frustrate the Police efforts to make society safer
The latest fraud initiative sounds like an experiment to retrieve victims' money, possibly using different tactics. How many villains have their ill gotten gains restored to victims or society in the criminal Courts? Not many because those living a cosy existence in the Temple and Gray's inn etc are not normally preyed upon as in the case of the normal members of society. The comment about a lack of prosecutions is particularly self serving. How many frauds are there?. How many Officers are there to tackle the growing problem? How many lawyers sit back and demand vast amounts of disclosure documents, to frustrate the issue facing the court?
Some informed comment on the subject would be helpful. I have no doubt that the City Police will tender for firms to try and recover the stolen assets. The sniping by-standers could no doubt help the police pro-bono!
