To be fair that might be true, but the only reason we would be doing less is because we're paid to do less. If the government isn't going to pay for solicitors to sit behind counsel, then counsel will be the only person available to deal with defendants and witnesses. We're doing more to keep the income vaguely stable as well, so it's not as though anyone is immune from the detrimental changes to the CJS.
