I doubt criminal / matrimonial barristers do more hours than the majority of their busy civil colleagues. Perhaps you are just looking at the wrong sets! Until a case gets to Court, barristers have far less pressure than Solicitors with conduct of cases on a day-to-day basis. Striking a work/life balance? The chance would be a fine thing!
