My sympathy is with junior criminal or family counsel as well as with solicitors' firms trying to provide a service on the money now being paid. When I was in private practice as a solicitor I occasionally did a full day trial in court. It was exhausting and I couldn't imagine having to go back to do a conference or prepare for another full day's trial. At least I could generally postpone dealing with the post until the next day.
