Disclosure has been a complete disgrace for years, and I hate to think how many miscarriages of justice there have been in consequence.

I can specifically identify three recent cases in which, had I not doggedly pursued disclosure, in one case by no less than 9 case management hearings, innocent Defendants would have undoubtedly have been convicted and almost certainly imprisoned.

These three cases were ultimately conducted at a substantial loss to my firm, in the light of the consequent vast amount of wasted time, and with Defence Costs Orders a thing of the past, there's simply no prospect of any accountability - not that there ever was previously, but at least the client and the firm got some recompence.

Why won't the DPP simply acknowledge the fact that the whole issue of Disclosure currently is scandalously unacceptable, rather than simply "looking at it again", or is this just a another case of a senior individual spinning wildly in order to avoid having to accept accountability, fall on her sword, and resign ?
