Having left criminal defence work behind - thank goodness - but with friends on both sides of the fence with the cut backs in defence Legal Aid and the CPS - this is what we get - a system not fit for purpose - it's actually not the Head of the CPS who is to blame but government after government cutting and cutting - what is the answer - bring industry leaders into the civil service to shake them up and get an efficient body (at whatever the cost) to enable justice to be dealt with properly - but this would also probably mean higher taxes - but no one wants that - the bottom line is there is more going out than going in therefore nothing will change - thank the crud I am soon to retire
