Just coming back to the commentator who suggests that those on the claimant side of the fence have been prevaricating over changing their business models and have had this coming. Change the business model to what exactly? The only solution for firms is run off and closure or downsizing. Take your pick of the two and if the SRA think this will be a clean process then I think they may well be in for a rude awakening because I suspect a lot of firms will simply hand them the keys to the office and tell them to help themselves. This is an issue for the whole of the profession because we all bear the costs of intervention etc. Claims can not be handled within the tariff system by solicitors. I suspect one or two companies may be able to invest in a portal and drive traffic to it similar to flight delay claims but they will be few and far between. Desperate times for client s and the law firms that service them.
