I do not think Parker J should be criticised for reading the documents (assuming that she did so) or sending them to the wife. The paralegal's actions - however well-intentioned they may have been - put the judge in a very difficult position.

Arguably, Parker J should have returned the documents unread to the husband's solicitors (on the grounds that (a) she could not be certain of their authenticity and (b) it was not clear that the husband had agreed to waive privilege in them), but she would still have had to inform the parties about the matter (and send them a copy of any covering letter which the paralegal had sent to the court).
