I wonder how many drug treatment programmes and other support services such as FDACs could be funded if cannabis was legalised and taxed...

More realistically, this is standard, short sighted cost cutting, ignoring wider benefits and only ever seeing costs. My view is that organisations like the National Audit Office should be given greater, pro-active powers to challenge such cost-cutting attempts, especially when one government department's penny pinching is at the much greater expense of other departments' budgets. Funding decisions could even be based on proper evidence rather than political expediency.

I know, it'll never happen. I can dream though can't I?
