Interesting your comments about 1600 applicants for 4 places.

I was at the bottom of Chancery Lane once in the Cock Tavern and overheard a person from a Large City Practice (presumably an HR Partner or some such over-elevated status), saying they had 32000 applicants for at most 30 places (that is a lot of poor quality "training" places). He said they just culled like you.

Amazing. Just why do these applicants want to go into such a dysfunctional firm?

A colleague of mine 'got' (in very loose parlance), at best 2 out of 5 'seats' (I mean how Public School talking about 'Seats'), of any quality on their training - I wont say where but it was supposed to be a very prestigious firm.

They would have done better to have been paid to undertake case management (and some advocacy), at a CAB or Law Centre before moving into the firm -but then again they would probably have seen the light by then. Catch them early I suppose, in view of the fact that only 20% are still in the City after a few years qualifying.

"Nodding Dog Syndrome"' just ends with ummmmmm "Nodding Dog Syndrome" - I am shocked at that, aren't you?
