I'm happily employed now but have had a period of uncertainty over recent years doing locum jobs having previously been made redundant after working for one firm for 13 plus years. I have previously been a Partner and Head of Department too and some time ago was a senior officer in a local law society representing a county's solicitors. Hence why I'm Anonymous!

This may attract some ire from others but I have little respect for many firms either recruiting direct or using agencies when it comes to the hiring of fellow solicitors. I'm not talking about qualifications and skills etc but just the way that applicants are treated by firms these days. Often no response is given to a job application when a short but polite email will do. After one interview I attended I was told that I lacked certain experience - well why the blankety blank was I asked for interview in the first place as anyone could have seen that on my CV if they had looked at it?

The profession has to wake up and treat others with respect like those applicants do too.

Rant over - thanks for reading!
