It is not just misleading candidates that is the issue. That is certainly a big risk for the less experienced. For those with experience, especially in company/commercial, it is the expectation that you will ignore the basic commercial advice you would give to a client looking at the same deal or opportunity.

At times it gets a bit uncomfortable listening to a firm (they seem always to the private practice) describe their business and see the cracks that they obviously don't address or even don't see.

I have had many experiences like anon at 9 July 2018 13:15 GMT, where I have attended an interview and found something like "company/commercial" meant "commercial property" with the odd sale of stock.

One of the best examples was visiting a firm in a Northern town and being told at the interview they wanted someone who, like the interviewers, went to the local, well-regarded, grammar school. My CV said which school I attended and it was not in the North and nor was it a grammar school. That cost me 400 miles in petrol, an overnight stay and meals with no offer of expenses.
