MPs are better MPs for having outside interests, after all do you want a collection of MPs who have done nothing other than PPE, been a policy wonk, SPAD then MP?

Being an MP is not about recording 7 hours a day of billable time.

Lord Nolan correctly identified in his report on standards in public life that the professionalisation of the political class is a 'bad thing'.
