If there were a facility whereby we can do whatever "checks" the Land Registry require, upload them on the portal and get a green tick when the Land Registry say it's OK, then yes this is a brilliant idea.

If, on the other hand, they wish to make solicitors the statutory insurer of last resort for a compulsory registered land title system, then it's an awful idea.

No prizes for guessing which of the above options that they have in mind.

And of course for the likes of An Ill Patient, Optima, Enact, etc., it doesn't make a jot of difference. They can just add any extra costs on to the bill along with the brib... sorry "referral fee", "bank transfer" fee (when the people they are acting for are actually a bank! - so are we supposed to believe the bank charge themselves £36 to send their own money to themselves??), and so on.

And for the rest of us, it just one more nail in the coffin.
