I do hope that, at the outset, PHB gave Mrs Owens advice along the lines of:

'Frankly, madam, you've not got a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding in your appeal. And it'll cost you a fortune to do so and they'll be a second fortune to pay when you pick up the tab for your husband's costs. But if you want to pursue it, either you're very rich or very foolish or both. But whatever, if you want to pay us to do so, that's you prerogative. But don't be surprised if the judgment of the Supreme Court starts with the words ..... 'It is to state the bl###ing obvious to say ..... ' '.
