If there are to be no fault divorces obtainable simply at the behest of either party, then surely marriage itself would be a mere 'sham'. You cannot break a commercial contract by simply saying that you do not want to go on with it, so why should this be different in family matters? To end marriage, however, would be a social disaster. On the basis that people do change, however, then it is surely better to keep the present system of 'fault' - it is far fairer on the whole than any alternative could be.
