In answer to Munby's question, of course folks will answer his inane question by saying that they would prefer to do it by video-link from their kitchen.

Until that is they are actually charged with an offence or have a custody hearing - and then realise that their lawyers are not with them in said kitchen, their 3 year old kid is being sick in the bathroom upstairs and the batty neighbour next door is playing Dolly Parton's Greatest Hits at 100 decibels...
