Richard, from an objective point view and being apolitical, is it more a case of the reforms introduced by the Labour Party - including Irvine's Access To Justice Act, the Supreme Court, changes to the role of Lord Chancellor, regulation etc etc have nearly all been monumental disasters. The system back in 2000 operated very well - perhaps not perfectly (but then, nothing is) and since then there have been so many changes which have only made things worse. And what are we left with ? Outspoken judges intervening in political questions ; successive political Lord Chancellors none of whom have been up to the job (because they're politicians, not judges) ; a politicised Supreme Court on the flawed American model ; a fragmented profession heavily over-regulated ; and numerous other problems which appeared only after 2000. Isn't it time they were overturned ?
