anon @ 10.42 - It's not my area, but on my understanding grounds for divorce and any "fault" that may be included is essentially irrelevant to the question of financial support, and has been for some time.

On my understanding, that's one of the arguments in favour of reform - the current system encourages parties to feel that their spouse's behaviour should affect how much they get (e.g. it was him/her that had the affair, so I should get the house!).

However, that's not how it works, and so the system is often requiring people to blame each other for no real reason other than it is what the law requires.
