Anon @ 13:29 GMT - how is the headline misleading? The report found that 1/3 of those surveyed had experienced violence or threats. It may be that the exact figures are lower, depending on how the survey sample was selected, but the actual report says that "Around 70% of criminal defence solicitors, 54% of family lawyers and 61% of prosecutors have been victims of threatening behaviour" so it would appear that in some practice areas the figures are much higher than a third.
Or are you saying that you think the situation is better in England than in Scotland?
I don't, sadly, find the figures surprising. I am a family lawyer and while I have never been assaulted, I have experienced, and witnessed, threatening behaviour.
