Whilst it is accepted that Ms Saunders, has gone public now. Defence lawyers have been screaming at the top of their voices for a lot longer than 5 years! Anon 15.15 has a valid point. The MoJ, CPS and LAA have all made it near impossible to properly defend.
The interpreting profession has similarly reached a point where each PACE interview needs to be reviewed by a 'appropriately qualified' interpreter, just adding to the defence bill!
Not to mention the costs involved in fancy reconstructions! Just one of the flaws similar to additional problems to what Anon 15.00 says. The 'only consideration' in the instruction of an Interpreter deployed to a police station and/or court is 'nearest and cheapest', and not to do with the complexity of perhaps a fraud or even homicide! Turning a blind eye, appears to have been the recognised 'sticky plaster' solution, if that!
